Creative Assembly has delayed the upcoming Total War: Warhammer 3 DLC, Tides of Torment, which was originally expected to launch this summer. The new release window is now set for later this year.

The news was shared on Creative Assembly’s official site, where head of community Adam Freeman said the DLC didn’t meet the quality standards set by recent updates. “We asked ourselves if this next DLC met the standards that we’ve set in recent releases, and the short answer was no,” Freeman explained. The team is now taking more time to refine gameplay and polish the experience.

Freeman also confirmed that the studio’s earlier What’s Next video, which featured the Slaanesh and Norsca factions, is no longer accurate.

Alongside the DLC delay, Creative Assembly outlined its update roadmap for the next few months:

The new Total War Warhammer 3 Tides of Torment DLC has been delayed from its planned summer launch, as Creative Assembly concludes the expansion does not yet meet its current standards. The next pack of legendary lords and associated accouterments includes overhauls for two of the most long-deserving factions in Slaanesh and Norsca, and the developer apologizes for the sudden change in plans while also teasing its final inclusion. It also talks about upcoming updates in the meantime, along with a response to conversations about the strategy game's long-term future.

"We are delaying the release date of Total War Warhammer 3 Tides of Torment from our previously stated summer release window and now intend to launch later this year," head of community Adam Freeman writes in a new blog post. While it's long been one of our best strategy games, TWW3 has been through a rollercoaster ride across the past couple of years, most notably with its Shadows of Change DLC in late 2023, which was met with a widespread negative response due to its pricing and perceived lack of content.

The next Total War Warhammer 3 DLC finally answers the phone to upgrade the strategy game's ironically least-loved Chaos God. That's right; after plenty of attention for Khorne, Nurgle, and Tzeentch, it's time to finally unleash new Slaanesh forces across the lands of the biggest Warhammer game on Steam. In a new dev chat, CA senior community manager Steve Coleman is joined by game designer William Håkestad, lead DLC designer Vasil Nikolov, and principal technical architect Radoslav Borisov to talk about what's next after patch 6.1.

The next DLC for Total War Warhammer 3 will again be a triple pack of legendary lords, which will be accompanied by a fourth, free addition. The first of the newcomers is for a faction that the Warhammer game's group has been calling for in their hordes - Dechala, the Denied One, a powerful Chaos champion of Slaanesh. Born a High Elf princess and mutated by the Chaos God of pleasure and decadence, Dechala now boasts six arms (and swords) and the lower body of a serpent.

"She's going to be able to quickly receive in and out of battle, leaving bodies and devastation behind her," Nikolov states. She's also able to flank on the battlefield ef

“This pack introduces Yuan Bo, a new Legendary Lord for Grand Cathay, usable in both Realm of Chaos and Immortal Empires campaigns, as well as new units, characters, and regiments of renown.”

“The first Race Pack for Total War: WARHAMMER III introduces the Ogres! Tough, vicious and driven by ravenous appetites, the Ogre tribes descend from the Mountains of Mourn, their greedy eyes fixed on faraway gold and the tantalising prospect of fresh meat…”
