I’ve always been a fan of police procedurals and crime thrillers ever since I read Patricia Cornwall’s Dr Scarpetta series as a teenager.Before I started this, I realised this book is number 6 in a book series. So if you are interested in reading the whole lot, I would recommend starting from number 1. However, this can be read as a standalone, and I didn’t feel disadvantaged not having read her previous titles.
Next Grave focuses on Detective Evan Bolton and his girlfriend, Rowan, who is also the owner and trainer for search and rescue dog, Thor.
It all starts when the body of retired Detective Rod McLeod is discovered in a car boot in the middle of a junkyard. Nobody realised he was missing, and concerns rise after Evan remembers the unanswered voicemail he received from Rod’s daughter, Sophia, who it turns out is also missing. There are 3 types of graves available across our six cemeteries: Full body graves, cremated remains plots and a woodland grave.
Not all options are available at all cemeteries - we advise you to take a look at our cemetery pages to see what grave options are available at each site before making your decision.
Grave types
Full body graves
A full body grave can accommodate 2 full body burials and approximately 6 to 8 sets of cremated remains (ashes).
Cremated remains plot
A cremated remains plot can accommodate 6 to 8 sets of ashes.
Woodland graves
A woodland grave can accommodate one full body burial. This option is only available at Allerton Cemetery.
How to purchase a grave
If you are planning an imminent burial, you should discuss options and preferences with your chosen Funeral Director.
We have graves available in different sections of each of our cemeteries. Whilst we do try to accommodate requests for specific sections, we will allocate the next grave available, rather than you picking an exact grave. Often, grave spaces may appear to be available but have already been purchased in reserve.
