Taking on the pressure of existence the head coach of the New York Jets is not for the faint of heart, and speculation began to jog rampant immediately after Robert Saleh was fired just five games into the season.
At least one sportsbook is already offering odds on who will be patrolling the Jets’ sideline come Week 1 of next season. The list of more than 50 names is topped by none other than Bill Belichick, who guided division rival New England to six Super Bowl titles.
Belichick, 72, reportedly wants to coach next season, and he’ll potentially have his pick among several openings that could be created over the next few months. SportsBetting.ag had previously listed Dallas and Jacksonville as the principal candidates to hire Belichick, followed by Philadelphia.
The Jets were tied for the fifth-shortest odds to hire Belichick just two weeks ago, but he is now the +200 favorite to ultimately replace Saleh. Defensive coordinator Jeff Ulbrich will have a dozen games to build his case to earn the job permanently, but he is not among the favorites by the sportsbook.

Five weeks into the year, the Jets, who many picked to be Super Bowl contenders in 2024, sat at an underwhelming 2-3.

Aaron Rodgers & Co. have been receiving orders from a new head coach, in the form of former defensive coordinator Jeff Ulbrich, who has been serving as the interim head coach.
But will Ulbrich earn the full-time gig ahead of next season?

Mike Vrabel and Ron Rivera have been interviewed by the Jets for the team's head coach position.
Rex Ryan and Jeff Ulbrich are set to interview next week, and there will surely be a number of other high-profile names to meet with owner Woody Johnson and general manager...errrr...in the coming weeks.
We're going to go out on a limb and say that Aaron Rodgers won't be included in any part of the HC interview process.
SportsBetting.ag has whittled down its "Jets next head coach" list to just 15 names. Three guys have better than 3/1 odds. Ron Rivera comes in a 6/1 and everyone else is 10/1 or higher.
Ryan had 250/1 odds when these odds were initially released on October 8. Bill Belichick was the favorite (2/1) on that date while Vrabel was second.
