When will the shroud of turin next be displayed
Many people have no idea the Holy Shroud is kept in a city in Northern Italy rather than in Rome. When I first visited Turin, way before I decided to live here, one of the most interesting facts I discovered about the city is that it gave its name to Jesus’ burial cloth. But where is the Turin Shroud located?
I’m here to answer this question and a few more, plus a tip on how you can visit the Turin Shroud.
As someone who has lived in Turin, I’ve had the privilege of being close to the Turin Shroud, also known as the Holy Shroud, Jesus’ burial shroud. I can tell you it’s very easy to get close to it, but almost impossible to see up close.
So, Where is the Turin Shroud located?
The Turin Shroud is located in Turin, Italy. The city gave it its name and a safe place to rest. And many people don’t know about it, and I can easily understand why.
Turin is not as famous as Holy Rome, artistic Florence, or charming Venice. However, Turin has stood the test of time and has an important political, economic, and religious presence. I can give you over 25 reasons to visit Turin, one of which is to see the Holy Shroud.

About the Shroud of Turin
Few artifacts in the world have stirred the imagination, provoked controversy, raised hypotheses—and for some, fortified faith—as has the Shroud of Turin. The Shroud resides in the Cathedral of St. John the Baptist in Turin, Italy, as it has for over four centuries. It bears a faint, yellowed image of a naked, crucified man and is believed by millions of Christians to be the burial cloth of Jesus of Nazareth.

We all hoped for a public display of the Holy Shroud in 2025, the Jubilee Year for the Catholic Church. But as much as we wanted to get close to the burial shroud, the news is that the Shroud of Turin display in 2025 will not happen as we dreamed of.
However, there are two special ways to get closer to the holy relic this year.
In 2024, the Vatican announced that the Turin Shroud public viewing would happen in 2025. But the latest news from the Archbishop of Turin, Monsignor Roberto Repole, made it clear that a physical display like the previous exhibitions won’t happen. Instead, the church is organizing a digital display of the Turin Shroud, and you can be part of a virtual pilgrimage.
All you need to know about the Shroud of Turin display in 2025
The virtual pilgrimage is happening in May 2025 – official display dates have not been announced yet. The good news is that everyone worldwide, including you, will be able to see, pray, and reflect in front of what is believed to be the Jesus Shroud.
New digital tools are being developed to widen access to the Shroud, so the shroud image and history of Jesus’s burial cloth can be available to a globa
Saint John Paul II National Shrine to host exhibit on the Shroud of Turin during Lent

Beginning on March 5, the first day of Lent, and running through Easter Sunday, April 20, the Saint John Paul II National Shrine in Washington, D.C., will host an exhibit called “‘Lord, You Could Not Love Me More!’: Saint John Paul II and the Shroud of Turin.”
The exhibit is a response to the beloved saint’s call for greater comprehending of and devotion to the shroud — the burial cloth that many believe was used to wrap the body of Christ after his crucifixion.
During a visit to the shroud in 1998 in Turin, Italy, Pope John Paull II said: “The shroud does not hold people’s hearts to itself but turns them to him, at whose service the Father’s loving providence has put it. Therefore, it is right to foster an awareness of the precious value of this image, which everyone sees and no one at present can explain.”
“For every thoughtful person it is a reason for deep reflection, which can even involve one’s life,” he added. “The shroud is thus a truly unique sign that points to Jesus, the accurate word of the Father, and invites us to pattern our lives on the life
'Multimedia pilgrimage' - Special initiatives for the Feast of the Shroud of Turin
By Maria Milvia Morciano
This year, the liturgical remembrance of the Shroud of Turin, on May 4th, holds a particularly deep significance because it is part of the Jubilee year: its meanings of faith and hope become even more vivid, not only for the city of Turin that safeguards it, but also for the entire world, which this year will be able to participate thanks to digital technologies, making a virtual pilgrimage possible through dedicated programs and special connections.
This morning, on 15 March, during the press conference presenting the special initiatives related to the feast, from 25 April - 5 May, the Archbishop of Turin and Bishop of Susa, Cardinal Roberto Repole, Pontifical Custodian of the Shroud, recalled the relevance of the Shroud, which, showing a man defeated by history, abused, tortured, and killed, reflects the dramatic current events, wars, but also diseases and the abandonment of the most vulnerable.
At the same time, however, the Shroud is an “invitation to live a new life” because it is “the imprint of the resurrection,” and in this sense, it opens us to hope
