Retailer Next is to close its store in Huddersfield's Kingsgate Centre in July this year, it has been confirmed.

Huddersfield Hub revealed last November that Boots would be relocating from King Avenue into the Kingsgate Centre in 2026.
Boots signage appeared on shutters at the side of Next and Huddersfield Hub understands that Boots will take over the Next space.
Next, which has another store at the Great Northern Retail Park on the edge of town, hasn’t been fit to find a large enough alternative in the town centre.
Boots has been forced to travel as Kirklees Council plans to demolish the Piazza Centre as part of the £262 million Our Cultural Heart regeneration scheme.
Another big name, W H Smith, left Huddersfield in May 2024 when its lease in the Piazza Centre expired.
