Data Explorer, Fact Sheets and Information by Geography use the identical data to display HRSA grants information but present it in slightly different ways. Data Explorer presents the most granular details whereas Data by Geography, Knowledge Sheets, and other tools and maps summarize the data. The funding totals will match across all tools. However, for a handful of awards that are jointly funded by two HRSA Bureaus, the total number of awards might display differently across these tools. For these grants, the Data Explorer will exhibit them as two separate awards so users can see the funding details and attribute the correct amount of funding to the corresponding Bureau or Office. Data by Geography and the Fact Sheets count them as a single award.

Grants are generally awarded to awardees with distinct UEI number, however, there are a few rare exceptions with H80 grants when two or more different offices within the same state that share the same UEI number were each awarded a grant. When this happens, the total number of awardees might differ. What is “Exploring?”

Exploring is for young men and women of high school age. The intent of law enforcement Exploring is to educate and involve youth in police operations and to interest them in law enforcement functions whether they enter police work or not. Exploring can further each Explorers education, encourage the Explorers participation in a rewarding and productive service activity, and enhance the Explorers preparation for future roles as citizen and community members. Besides gaining a working knowledge of police work, the participants have the opportunity to give of themselves to their community.

What Do Explorers Do?

Explorers can volunteer at community events doing security work, directing traffic, fingerprinting small children, and helping with Crime Prevention Programs.

Programs. Members can also learn first hand how Police Officers do their jobs. Officers and Detectives with special skills are invited to meetings to explain how the different divisions of the Police Department operate.
